Nostalgia

 Last week we went to Agfest in Tassie. I got all nostalgic for mud, dairy cows and calves... and the old tractors of my childhood on a dairy farm at West Pine, on the north west coast of Tas. I remember it as a fairytale place, the creeks, dams, ferns, platypus and beautiful garden and orchard, all very idyllic. And seeing fairies, pixies, elves with my grandfather, we really did!!!

 My friend's mare and foal on Pete's old family farm here on Flinders, that has just been sold again.
 This is the clutch in the farm's old Bedford truck. It is an old door hinge. The truck used to be on an outer island and necessity was  the mother of invention out there!
 My latest baby cardi, copied from Pea Soup! For my neice's baby due in September.
 Pillingers Peak, we painted yesterday.
Opposite Pillingers is Strezlecki.

  2. Looks like it was a great day out, I love all things 'farmy' and your childhood memories are wonderful. It must've been great growing up in such a place.
    I have to admit I love the smell of a dairy, Something very down to earth and organic about it.
    Great tractor pics, particularly the one in all it's 'natural' glory, but I do love a nice bright red tractor too.....

    Your little baby cardi, looks so sweet amongst the daisies. Certainly the weather for woollen knits.

    A beautiful, sunny day here, but chill weather on the way.
    Have a great weekend,

    Claire :}

  3. That is one of the prettiest cows I've ever seen! What a great day spent out , there is nothing as wonderful as a working farm.
